21st Century customers are the ones every organization serves nowadays. They come in numerous variations, be they called clients or be they called patients. Customers are the ones being asked to accept and adopt an idea, an information, and finally a product or service. The customers are the the potential and current users of any organization’s output. The organizations couldn’t survive without their clients or patients, and customers , on the other hand, couldn’t live without the services and products the companies can provide. It’s a two way road, so to say.

The customers usually put in their money and sometimes their time and effort. What they get in return is a service or product, and even more, they are being asked to accept an idea, information, or changes, policies and procedures. The business owners and their advisors are also customers to each other, as they are all customers to their associates, customers, staff , family, close friends and acquaintances.

You can say that each and everyone of them is living on the other people’s time, money and effort. So , depending on how much money the others are willing to spend, you can determine if the customers think they are getting good service or not. The most important thing is to keep up the good service in order to have a good business.

Another way of maintaining good business is to not to charge the customers as much for what they are getting or to give them a little more than they think they are paying for. Interesting techniques, isn’t it?!

This is very useful because the customers always want added-value for themselves. And they are not the only ones to desire this. Management wants added-value from their employees and employees want added-value from their management. Added-value from both management and employees is also required from the firm’s, organization’s, or practice’s potential and current customers, clients and patients.

In fact good service and good business are based on helping people spend their time, effort or money in a very efficient way. The 21st century will be owned by those individuals, firms, businesses or organizations that carry on the tradition of these all.
Customers must always be satisfied, so keeping up the good business is a matter of keeping the clients or patients think that they are getting all they can wish for for the money and time they have put in.

BIOS in the computer language stands for Basic Input/Output System. It is the main integral part of a computer that helps it to start up with all the programming. It is a built-in software that helps us to determine what a computer can do without the assessment of programs from a disk.

The BIOS contains in it all the codes that are required to run and control the keyboard, mouse, screen display, hard drive, and the numerous functions that the computer can function. In other words, we can say that the whole computer is dependent on it and does all the functions through it. The BIOS is usually placed in a ROM chip that comes with a computer in the central processing unit. It helps the computer to boot itself. BIOS is known as the third software after the operating system and the other applications, it helps the computer to operate successfully.

There are numerous functions that the BIOS performs but among them the most important role of it is to load the operating system. When you turn on the computer, the first instruction that is executed comes from the BIOS. Some of the other tasks that the BIOS perform are that it makes sure that all the different hardware components that the CPU contains are working properly. Many chips have there own BIOS card, so the other function of it is to activate all the other BIOS chips. A computer occasionally needs to update its BIOS. It is required to be changed according to the advanced operating system. At many times to change the BIOS chip is very difficult, since it was attached to the motherboard; then came the trend of upgrading it. Since the BIOS is stored in the ROM, changing it is a bit tough, and that is why many people prefer to upgrade it. To change the BIOS you will have to get the help from professionals. You can even check out the various sites where the manufacturers provide the facility of up gradation. After you have found the one that you have been looking for, you can download it; copy the program, along with the BIOS update on a disk or a floppy disk.

Modern PCs have flash BIOS, which mean that the BIOS memory is installed in a chip and can be easily upgraded whenever required. The BIOS is found in a standardized form, so that is why the entire PC has almost the same setup. Before upgrading the BIOS be sure that the setup that you are about to change is compatible with your computer. Or else you can corrupt the whole BIOS, which means that you will not be able to start your PC, so, before you are about to upgrade it, do not forget to ask the manufacturers and find out what will be mores suitable for your PC. Go through the various sites where they allow you to download the software and guide you through all the set up that you may require.

Sterling Silver

Loading ... Loading ...

The splendor of silver has captivated the human mind since ages. No one even knows when and how the metal was discovered and came into use. Historical accounts from almost all countries of the have references to the use of silver. The tradition of the “silver anniversary “is traced to Germany where it was customary to present a silver wreath to a woman after 25 years of marriage. Throughout the ages this mystical white metal has been used to mark historical milestones, celebrations, achievements and special occasions. A silver spoon has symbolized great fortune and privilege since the 17th century. The tradition of the “silver anniversary” dates back to Germany where it was customary to present a silver wreath to a woman after 25 years of marriage.

By definition, Silver is an element that occurs naturally in the earth and is generally considered too soft in its pure form for practical use in jewelry, giftware or flatware. An alloy such as copper is usually added to make silver workable for jewelry. Silver in pure form also called fine silver, is relatively soft, very malleable, and easily damaged so it is commonly combined with other metals to produce a more durable and workable product. The most popular of these alloys is sterling silver, which is 92.5 percent (925 parts) pure silver and 7.5 percent (75 parts) alloy metal.

Although any metal can make up the 7.5 percent non-silver portion of sterling, years of experiences of silversmiths tell us that copper is the best choice. It helps in improving the metal’s hardness and durability without affecting its beautiful color. The small amount of copper added to sterling does not affect the value of the metal. The price of the silver item is actually affected by the labor involved in making the item, the skill of the craftsperson, and the intricacy of the design.

Nowadays, sterling silver is a favorite choice in mediums among the most creative and innovative designers. Due to its affordability and malleability - it can be shaped into almost any form imaginable. Sterling is the primary material used for silver jewelry, giftware, hollowware and flatware. A gift of silver is a touching and lasting expression of affection, friendship, celebration, congratulation or thanks. It is a very special way of saying that you care. Throughout history silver has been referred to as the Queen of Metals and has been widely used for jewelry. Sterling silver is always an appropriate gift to commemorate an important event in a woman’s life and to tell her that she means the world to you. Sterling gifts might also include artful objects for the home, those related to a hobby or career, or simple fun indulgences. Such novelty items as a make-up brush, silver bracelet or purse mirror make a great gift for any woman. Other ideas include an engraved heart-shaped pillbox to tuck into a purse or dangle from a silver chain, or a sterling egg timer for the chef who marvels in a well accessorized kitchen.

Reggae Music and Reggae Jargon

Jamaican Reggae music is a dynamic music form that is continually evolving and changing and it continues to do so to this day. Reggae music is a musical form of expression which artists have used to discuss topics ranging from cultural to social. Reggae musics’ origins and beginnings can be traced back to the 1950’s. This article will look at Reggae music genres from the earliest to the present. Also, we will define some Reggae jargon as it pertains to the genres.
Ska
Ska is a style of Reggae music created in Jamaica during the 1950’s to 1960’s. The music is heavily driven by drums and bass guitar over which a singer sings. Many music historians agree that Ska was the first genre to which Reggae music can be traced.

Rock steady

Rock Steady is another early genre of Reggae music. Rock Steady is basically Ska however the drum and bass are played at a different pace and slower than those found in Ska music. In this music form, Jamaican singers sing to Rock Steady instrumentals.

Reggae
Following the era of Ska and Rock Steady, the word ‘Reggae’ was coined. No one is sure of the exact origins of the word ‘Reggae.’ Reggae music evolved from Ska and Rock Steady. Reggae has a distinct sound. Reggae music is driven by drums, guitar, bass and horns. Famous Jamaican singers initially began recording songs to this style of music beginning in the late 1960’s through the 1970’s.

Dub
Dub is Reggae instrumental music with no singing. Dub is not merely instrumental tracks of popular Reggae songs. Dub artists produce instrumentals with no intention of having someone sing to them. Usually Dub music has a lot of variation within it (the pattern varies) so it’s very difficult to sing to or rhyme to Dub. Dub artists are often very experimental in their approach to this style of music but its baselines and drum patters can most definitely be identified as Reggae.

Toasting
Toasting is basically talking or chatting over an instrumental track and rhyming while doing so. The person doing the Toasting is referred to as a Toaster. During the 1960’s in Jamaica and throughout the 1970’s a Toaster would introduce popular Reggae songs with a short and witty introduction that rhymed. Over time Reggae Toasters started saying more and more and were eventually invited into music studios to record entire songs. Toasting later evolved into Deejaying which will be discussed in more detail below.

Dancehall Reggae
Dancehall Reggae evolved from Reggae music during the 1980’s. Dancehall Reggae is heavily influenced by drums and drum patterns. The evolution of Reggae into Dancehall Reggae coincided with the popularity of drum machines. Many of sounds of Dancehall Reggae are electronic drum patterns. The pace of the music in Dancehall Reggae is up beat and up tempo. Unlike the previous styles of Reggae music which are usually sung, Dancehall Reggae artist chat or speak in rhymes which is referred to as ‘chatting on a mic.’ Nowadays, those who ‘chat on the mic’ are known as DJ’s. Furthermore, the act of ‘chatting on the mic’ is called Deejaying. Dancehall DJ’s evolved from the previously mentioned Toasters who would Toast songs in Jamaica. Dancehall Reggae DJ’s speak the Jamaican patois language to deliver the message in their songs. Dancehall Reggae is most popular among the youth and youth culture in Jamaica.

Within the main Reggae genres there many subcategories and further classifications of the music. The subclassifications may depend on the message of the song, or the style of music and you may find that a subcategory falls into one or several genres. Next, we’ll look at a few of the subcategories of Reggae music.

Rockers
Rockers is Reggae music that is a ballad or a love song. It is slow paced music which is sung.

Roots
Roots is Reggae music with a religious message.

Culture
Culture is Reggae music that speaks about history, culture or society. Culture is Reggae music that has a positive social message.

In conclusion, Reggae music is a dynamic and continually evolving art form. It is driven by island life, politics and youth culture. Reggae music ranges from mellow love longs sung in Standard English to the up tempo Dancehall Reggae songs sung in Jamaican Patois.

History Of Pearls !

Posted by admin in June 8th 2008

Loading ... Loading ...

In the beginning pearl hunting was the only means known for harvesting pearls. A little before the start of the 20th century divers manually pulled oysters from ocean floors and river bottoms and checked each one of them individually for pearls. However, not all natural oysters produce pearls. In fact, in a haul of three tonnes, only three or four oysters will produce perfect pearls.

Eventually the process of culturing pearls was discovered. Nowadays, almost all pearls used for jewelry are cultured by planting a core or nucleus into pearl oysters. Normally it takes three years after the planting for the pearls to be ready for harvesting but it may take up to six years also before the pearls are produced and ready. This mariculture process was first developed by Kokichi Mikimoto in Japan, who was granted a patent for the process in 1896. The nucleus is usually a polished bead made from mussel shell. This along with a small scrap of mantle tissue from another oyster to serve as an irritant, it is surgically implanted inside the oyster. Oysters which survive the subsequent surgery to remove the finished pearl are often implanted with a new, larger nucleus as part of the same procedure and then returned to the water for another three years of growth.

Originally the cultured pearls in Japan known as Akoya pearls were produced by a species of small oysters no bigger than 6 to 7 cm in size. Later Japanese pearls larger than 10 mm in diameter were produced which were extremely rare and highly prized. In the past couple of decades, cultured pearls have been produced with larger oysters in the south Pacific and Indian Ocean. One of the largest pearl-bearing oysters is the Pinctada maxima, which is roughly the size of a dinner plate. The characteristic property of the South Sea pearls is their large size and silvery color. Sizes up to 14 mm in diameter are not uncommon. Australia is one of the major producers of South Sea pearls. Another type of South Sea pearl is the Tahitian pearls also called as Titian pearls.

In 1914 pearl farmers of Japan began culturing freshwater pearls using the pearl mussels native to Lake Biwa. This lake, the largest and most ancient in Japan, lies near the city of Kyoto. This process gained tremendous popularity so much so that the name “Biwa Pearls” became synonymous with freshwater pearls in general. Production thus increased rapidly reaching the time of peak in 1971, when Biwa pearl farmers produced six tons of cultured pearls. At this time pollution and excessive harvesting caused the virtual extinction of this animal. Japanese pearl farmers now culture a hybrid pearl mussel—a cross between the last remaining Biwa Pearl Mussels and a closely related species from other Chinese or Japanese lakes.

In the 1990s, Japanese pearl producers also invested in producing cultured pearls with freshwater mussels in the region of Shanghai, China, and in Fiji. Freshwater pearls are characterized by the reflection of rainbow colors in the luster. Cultured pearls are also produced using abalone.

Money Isn’t Evil!

Posted by admin in June 8th 2008

Loading ... Loading ...

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. (1 Timothy 6:10 NIV) Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. Somehow the Church seems to have gotten the idea into their head that being rich is a sin. Christians tend to look at verses like this one and say to themselves, “Money is evil”.

This is a classic mistake. The scripture doesn’t say that money is evil, rather that the LOVE of it is evil. It doesn’t say that ALL people seeking money will wander away from the faith, merely that SOME who have an improper desire for money have fallen away. Jesus spent money. Jesus paid taxes. Jesus had a man who carried the purse that held money for his ministry. Jesus received money for his ministry. Jesus knew that money was a necessary tool to accomplish things in this world.

Our attitude toward money ought to be that it is gospel fuel. The more money we make the more we can contribute toward establishing God’s kingdom in this world. Christian’s ought to be the lenders, not the borrowers. We ought to be helping to feed, clothe and house those in need.

If you look throughout the bible you’ll quickly see that God used finances as a blessing to those he found worthy. God has definitely not rejected his own character. He still blesses people today with finances when he approves of them.

Fifa World Cup !

Loading ... Loading ...

Held every four years, the FIFA World Cup is probably one the most renown and popular sports tournaments in the world. The soccer tournament takes place in one or two countries over a four week period in which thirty-two teams compete against each other to claim the title of world champions. The most recent world cup was held in Germany in 2006, in which Italy were proclaimed as the winners after defeating France in a penalty shoot-out.
Origins of the World Cup: The first World Cup tournament was held in Uruguay in 1930. The first tournament was difficult to establish because of the location. The organizers struggled to attract European nations to send teams to South America to contest the tournament. Eventually, the tournament took place with thirteen teams involved; nine from the Americas and four from Europe. The first final was contested between the hosts and Argentina, with Uruguay winning 4-2.

The early competitions were troubled by the difficulties of transportation and frequent interruptions caused by war. Many countries refused to participate, as it would involve playing soccer matches against teams that either they did not recognize or had been in conflict with in the recent past. After World War Two many of these problems were removed and FIFA was able to organize credible and professional tournaments much easily.

The Modern World Cup: The World Cup is essentially organized in two distinct parts; the qualification stage and the finals. The qualification stage takes place over a two year period and runs concurrently with each nation’s domestic soccer season. Teams are divided into regions: Europe, South America, Asia, Africa, Oceania and the North American and Caribbean regions.

Within these regions the countries are drawn into groups and will play each other home and away. The exact qualification method differs from region to region, but usually the top team in each group qualifies for the World Cup Finals and the runner-up competes in a play-off for the last remaining qualifying positions.

The World Cup Finals themselves are held in a different country on each occasion. Sometimes, FIFA has selected two countries in the same vicinity to host the tournament; for example, South Korea and Japan hosted in 2002.

The finals are contested between thirty-two nations divided into eight groups. They play each other once and the top two teams qualify for the knock out stages. There follows three further rounds that are decided by one match. If the match is level, the game will be decided on penalties.

Past Winners of the World Cup: Brazil is the most successful team in the history of the World Cup, having won the tournament a record five times. Italy’s recent victory in 2006 has brought them close to equaling the record with four successes. Remarkably, the World Cup has only been won by seven different countries over the eighteen tournaments so far. Germany, Uruguay, Argentina, France and England complete the list.

The Future of the World Cup: The next World Cup will be held in the South Africa in 2010. This will be the first time that the tournament will be held on the African continent.

After a series of promising performances by Cameroon, Senegal and Nigeria in recent tournaments, many soccer experts are predicting that one of these nations may be able to win the Word Cup next time.

Travelling Tips !

Loading ... Loading ...

As we come out of the cold months of winter, it is time to start planning some trips. To enhance your trips from here to there, keep the following in mind.

1. Foreign Pay Phones – Picking up the phone in another country can present a host of challenges. For instance, how much does the call cost? In most countries, you can now buy calling cards that work the phones to save you the hassle.

2. American Express Mail – If you have an American Express card, you are one lucky devil. You can have your mail sent to any American Express office in the world. Just hop over and pick it up.

3. Packing for Europe – If you are packing for Europe, pack light! Europe is not another planet. They have soap, books, clothes and so on. You can buy it there. Trust me!

4. Avoid Carrying Souvenirs – If you are on an extended trip, you will start accumulating souvenirs of all sorts. Don’t haul them all over the place. Mail them home and save your back!

5. Russia, Friends and Vodka – Russia is a great place to visit. The people are friendly and vodka drinking is very common. Have fun, but use your common sense. Some Russians are simply too friendly if you know what I mean.

6. Wrinkle Free Pants – Always take a pair of wrinkle free pants. You can roll them up to save space. You will need them to enter churches, museums and other places.

7. Yelling at Thais – Thailand is the land of smiles, but it doesn’t mean everyone is happy. Culturally, raising your voice is a very bad move. Never yell at Thais. It will not help, but will hurt you.

8. Laptop Charging – When traveling, it is vital you know what the ampage is in the country you are in. More than a few laptops have been zapped by being hooked up to a 220 outlet. Take a regulator to make sure this doesn’t happen.

9. Seeing Europe with Children – If you are traveling to Europe and are taking kids, hotels and hostels can be a pain. Try renting a villa and exploring the area around it. They are much cheaper than you think.

10. Walking at Night – One of the great things about traveling is experiencing the nightlife in a new location. When walking on the streets, keep in mind things may be different. In some countries, manholes are not always covered!

I have to admit I am addicted to travel. Experiencing another culture and way of life is just tremendous. Of course, you need to know how to laugh at yourself as well. Have a great trip.
