Fifa World Cup !

Held every four years, the FIFA World Cup is probably one the most renown and popular sports tournaments in the world. The soccer tournament takes place in one or two countries over a four week period in which thirty-two teams compete against each other to claim the title of world champions. The most recent world cup was held in Germany in 2006, in which Italy were proclaimed as the winners after defeating France in a penalty shoot-out.
Origins of the World Cup: The first World Cup tournament was held in Uruguay in 1930. The first tournament was difficult to establish because of the location. The organizers struggled to attract European nations to send teams to South America to contest the tournament. Eventually, the tournament took place with thirteen teams involved; nine from the Americas and four from Europe. The first final was contested between the hosts and Argentina, with Uruguay winning 4-2.

The early competitions were troubled by the difficulties of transportation and frequent interruptions caused by war. Many countries refused to participate, as it would involve playing soccer matches against teams that either they did not recognize or had been in conflict with in the recent past. After World War Two many of these problems were removed and FIFA was able to organize credible and professional tournaments much easily.

The Modern World Cup: The World Cup is essentially organized in two distinct parts; the qualification stage and the finals. The qualification stage takes place over a two year period and runs concurrently with each nation’s domestic soccer season. Teams are divided into regions: Europe, South America, Asia, Africa, Oceania and the North American and Caribbean regions.

Within these regions the countries are drawn into groups and will play each other home and away. The exact qualification method differs from region to region, but usually the top team in each group qualifies for the World Cup Finals and the runner-up competes in a play-off for the last remaining qualifying positions.

The World Cup Finals themselves are held in a different country on each occasion. Sometimes, FIFA has selected two countries in the same vicinity to host the tournament; for example, South Korea and Japan hosted in 2002.

The finals are contested between thirty-two nations divided into eight groups. They play each other once and the top two teams qualify for the knock out stages. There follows three further rounds that are decided by one match. If the match is level, the game will be decided on penalties.

Past Winners of the World Cup: Brazil is the most successful team in the history of the World Cup, having won the tournament a record five times. Italy’s recent victory in 2006 has brought them close to equaling the record with four successes. Remarkably, the World Cup has only been won by seven different countries over the eighteen tournaments so far. Germany, Uruguay, Argentina, France and England complete the list.

The Future of the World Cup: The next World Cup will be held in the South Africa in 2010. This will be the first time that the tournament will be held on the African continent.

After a series of promising performances by Cameroon, Senegal and Nigeria in recent tournaments, many soccer experts are predicting that one of these nations may be able to win the Word Cup next time.

Travelling Tips !

As we come out of the cold months of winter, it is time to start planning some trips. To enhance your trips from here to there, keep the following in mind.

1. Foreign Pay Phones – Picking up the phone in another country can present a host of challenges. For instance, how much does the call cost? In most countries, you can now buy calling cards that work the phones to save you the hassle.

2. American Express Mail – If you have an American Express card, you are one lucky devil. You can have your mail sent to any American Express office in the world. Just hop over and pick it up.

3. Packing for Europe – If you are packing for Europe, pack light! Europe is not another planet. They have soap, books, clothes and so on. You can buy it there. Trust me!

4. Avoid Carrying Souvenirs – If you are on an extended trip, you will start accumulating souvenirs of all sorts. Don’t haul them all over the place. Mail them home and save your back!

5. Russia, Friends and Vodka – Russia is a great place to visit. The people are friendly and vodka drinking is very common. Have fun, but use your common sense. Some Russians are simply too friendly if you know what I mean.

6. Wrinkle Free Pants – Always take a pair of wrinkle free pants. You can roll them up to save space. You will need them to enter churches, museums and other places.

7. Yelling at Thais – Thailand is the land of smiles, but it doesn’t mean everyone is happy. Culturally, raising your voice is a very bad move. Never yell at Thais. It will not help, but will hurt you.

8. Laptop Charging – When traveling, it is vital you know what the ampage is in the country you are in. More than a few laptops have been zapped by being hooked up to a 220 outlet. Take a regulator to make sure this doesn’t happen.

9. Seeing Europe with Children – If you are traveling to Europe and are taking kids, hotels and hostels can be a pain. Try renting a villa and exploring the area around it. They are much cheaper than you think.

10. Walking at Night – One of the great things about traveling is experiencing the nightlife in a new location. When walking on the streets, keep in mind things may be different. In some countries, manholes are not always covered!

I have to admit I am addicted to travel. Experiencing another culture and way of life is just tremendous. Of course, you need to know how to laugh at yourself as well. Have a great trip.

SEO Copywriting !

Posted by admin in June 8th 2008
1 Star2 Stars3 Stars4 Stars5 Stars (No Ratings Yet)
Loading ... Loading ...

SEO copywriting is the creation of keyword articles for search engine optimization. The idea is to use carefully selected keywords sprinkled throughout the article to attract the attention of search engines. You need to strike a balance when doing this. The primary purpose of the article is to boost your search engine rankings, but the article has to be readable as well.
When doing SEO copywriting, you need to know your subject matter. People using search engines are looking for information. Do some research about your product or service before you begin. Make some notes. Create an entertaining and informative article. If it is obvious that you don’t know what you’re talking about, this will turn readers off; remember, readers are potential customers.

You also need to research your keywords when writing SEO articles. The most commonly searched keywords may not be the best, as many other webmasters will be using the same ones. You may want to try using a less frequently searched but more targeted keyword or phrase to draw higher quality traffic to your website.

One major pitfall of SEO copywriting is overusing keywords. You do need a certain keyword density to attract the attention of search engines, but you don’t want to use the same one too many times. A good rule of thumb is to use your keyword about once every one hundred words. You should also think about having a few secondary keywords, and working them into the body of your article as well. Make sure you work them into the text in a natural fashion. An article that is obviously no more than a container for keywords can be a turnoff for your readers.

Finally, when you’ve written your article, proofread and spell-check it. Your article should not contain spelling or grammar errors. Many readers will consider sloppy writing to be a sign of laziness, and possibly of incompetence. Remember, the purpose of SEO copywriting is to attract visitors to your website who will hopefully turn into customers for your business. The last thing you want to do is give your readers a negative impression of your product or service by having sloppily written articles on your website.

There’s more to writing SEO articles than using keywords. The articles must be well-crafted and informative as well. Work your keywords into the article in a way that is natural, and don’t overuse them. An article can be completely search engine optimized, but if it isn’t readable, it will do you no good. Remember, your target audience is the reader, not the search engine.

Bank Foreclosures !

Posted by admin in June 8th 2008
1 Star2 Stars3 Stars4 Stars5 Stars (No Ratings Yet)
Loading ... Loading ...

Bank foreclosures are on the rise due to current economics in the United States. Banks foreclose on homes when the homeowner is unable to make monthly mortgage payments. In some cases, bank foreclosures can be completed in as few as 51 days from the past due payment. However, bank foreclosures are usually completed within 90 to 120 days from the first past due payment.
Bank foreclosures are also referred to as real estate owned (REO) foreclosures. REO properties can occasionally be sold through a process known as pre-foreclosure or short sale. Selling during pre-foreclosure can help the homeowner save their credit rating and reduce expenses for the lender. When there is equity in the mortgaged property, the homeowner is oftentimes willing to negotiate a lower selling price to keep their home from foreclosure and their credit intact.

When there is no equity in the real estate or the home has negative equity, the bank may be willing to allow for a short sale of the home. A short sale gives the homeowner the opportunity to sell the house at a lower price than is owed on the mortgage note. There are two types of short sales used during bank foreclosures. A deficiency judgment short sale requires the homeowner to repay the difference between the mortgage amount and selling price. For example, if the mortgage amount is $100,000 and the property sells for $80,000, the homeowner is responsible for the remaining $20,000 balance.

The second short sale option is referred to as Payment in Full without Pursuit of Deficiency Judgment. With this option, the lender agrees to accept the selling amount and the homeowner is not required to repay the difference. It’s important to note, the Internal Revenue Service may consider this difference as capital gains and charge tax on the amount. Foreclosure real estate costs the bank money. The properties have taxes, maintenance fees and insurance which must be paid. Banks want to make money. When they have foreclosed homes, lenders lose money each day the home remains unsold.

Bank foreclosures are stressful for the homeowner as well as the loss mitigator. A bank loss mitigator’s job is to assess and minimize the loss the bank will take on a foreclosure. Once your property is in foreclosure, you will work with a loss mitigator to determine which action is best for you and the bank. The bank does not want to foreclose on your home. Foreclosure is a last resort when mortgage payments or other arrangements cannot be met.

Bank foreclosures can be a very stressful and embarrassing event for an homeowner. Private real estate investors can often purchase your home and save your credit. They can offer a solution before it is too late. However, you must obtain short sale approval from your lender prior to selling it for a lesser amount than owed on your mortgage note.

Critical Marketing Mistakes !

Posted by admin in June 8th 2008
1 Star2 Stars3 Stars4 Stars5 Stars (No Ratings Yet)
Loading ... Loading ...

Mistakes are part of doing business and employees make them daily. Factors such as the size of the business, the number of associates, and a failure of management to review progress within departments. You will have to recognize and address marketing strategies if you are to avoid making the easy mistakes.

Nonexistent Marketing Plan

It is rare that a small business owner will actually make a marketing plan. This is because most small businesses are started with precious little capital and the concern over a marketing strategy is nonexistent.

To succeed, it is imperative to any business that a marketing plan be devised. It is like taking a map with you on that road trip across the country. You would not want to get lost, would you? Running a business without a marketing plan is a recipe for failure. You have to separate the various marketing elements and craft a plan designed for success and you will eliminate the fear of failure.

Being Oblivious to the Market

Who, what, where, and when are the questions you should ask yourself. Failing to analyze the market is quite common. The target market needs to be within reasonable reach. If not, you’re heading for disaster.

“Who” refers to the type of customer that purchases the company’s products and/or services? This often begins with listing by genders, age groups, ethnic groups, and local establishments.

You also need to know where your potential customers are also where your competition has its customer base. If your company depends on traffic from the street, you will want to know about the area immediately surrounding your business.

You also need to know what limits are in place. Location is critical so found out about the location of your competition and what areas they service. Knowing this will help you found out if any limitation need to be looked into further.

Interchangeable Services and Products

Entrepreneurs are known to go from one business to another without missing a beat. Confusion is sure to follow because no one really knows exactly what kind of products or services the company is actually selling. When you see a business advertising itself as “full service” to its customers, this is generally a warning sign. Interchangeable products and services is great for the bottom line, but the resulting confusion for customers can have disasterous consequences.

Lack of a Business Plan

Never start a business without first having a working plan. The promises and actions of others does not a business plan make. The idea of the business must be tangible and possible. Every part of the process should be planned and achieved by you, and only you. The experience and knowledge of the owners are the foundation upon which the company is built.

Failing to Respond to Customers

Businesses need to react quick in this fast paced world to the concerns of their customers because a slow or delayed response will cost customers. The holidays are a prime example.

The customer has no time to spare. He runs into a department store for a last minute item and finds a line 50 people long.

A. Does he wait patiently in line for his turn?
B. Will the manager open up another line?

Of course, the answer is (B). In order to keep the customer happy, the retail manager opens another register to accommodate the crowd.

It is easy to avoid some of the more common marketing mistakes once you see that you are guilty of committing them. Plot a course of action and check progress monthly. You may want to invest in a business consultant to help you get everything in order. It could be money well spent.

How To Find The Best Small Business Opportunity ?

Posted by admin in June 8th 2008
1 Star2 Stars3 Stars4 Stars5 Stars (No Ratings Yet)
Loading ... Loading ...

There are many reasons that someone initially decides that it’s time to begin a small business or purchase a franchise. It can be very financially freeing to have additional income on the side, for some the desire to work at home and escape a commute or a cubicle is the driving force behind the decision to begin something new.

Whether it’s a way to invest funds into a safe and profitable sector, or simply a passion for a service or product that the new business opportunity will provide one of the most important things in preparing to start a new franchise business is understanding what options are available and which options have the largest potential for success. There are many different kinds of small business opportunities and franchises for sale, but those options can be narrowed down considerably by asking two critical questions that help determine what type of small business opportunity is the right fit.

#1 What is the financial commitment to the franchise, liquid capital, total investment, and overhead cost?

Knowing what costs a small business is going to encounter is the biggest part of researching a franchise opportunity and the most important thing to figure out before any decisions are actually made about beginning a franchise business.

Most providers, contractors, employees are going to need payment immediately or in advance for their services, while income from a new franchise or small business can be slow and in most cases will take at least 30-90 days to see any cash flow actually come out of a new business. With this in mind, the total amount of liquid capital available to a new franchise owner must be calculated carefully and understood so that the level of investment and commitment matches the financial requirements to make the franchise a success. For example if a franchise owner has a total liquid capital to invest in a new franchise business of $50,000, there needs to be a careful examination of what the costs will be of purchasing a “low-cost” franchise.

A Liberty Weight Loss franchise may appeal to the investor and advertises that their franchise requires a liquid capital of $46,000-$100,000. And while it’s true that the franchise can be run starting as low as $46,509, an investor with only $50,000 to spend on their investment will encounter extreme stress and an inability to purchase and provide marketing, promotional materials, discounts, and even basic equipment needed to make running their own franchise comfortable and successful.

It’s much wiser to not shoot for the limit, but rather to find a franchise that is closer to the low to mid range of liquid capital available and use the additional finances available to insure success and satisfaction to all those involved in the initial phases of beginning a franchise.

Something such as CompuChild which is a franchise that teaches basic computer skills and typing in a classroom format to children requires a liquid capital of $20,000, which leaves the investor with plenty of extra capital to use to pay contractors, suppliers, and market their business without needing to see revenue first in order to promote and maintain the new business.

#2 What is the skill set, type of franchise, service, or product that the franchise owner is capable to provide and competent to lead?

The second most critical thing that needs to be answered about a franchise is what type of franchise will it be. Because a DVDNow kiosk franchise fits the right price; range for an investor does not necessarily mean that DVDNow franchises are the perfect fit.

There may not be a passion for the video rental business, there may not be a desire to service machines, or a desire to be in a relational business might not be met in a kiosk service style franchise business. It’s important to know that within every price range for investors there are multiple franchise opportunities and the most successful franchises are those that are run by businessmen and women who understand the product or service that they are providing and are passionate about that franchise. Even with a more specific desire for a franchise like being able to work at home, there are many franchise that are home based businesses.

Working from home doesn’t mean the franchise is limited to internet based tech services, though there are many of those available. It can also be businesses such as Stay at Home, which is a business that is operated from a home and provides in home care and services for customers that are elderly or homebound. There are tutoring centers like Mathnasium, and community building franchises like Virtuoso music, which teaches music lessons in homes and coordinates community events, concerts, and recitals. All of these franchise opportunities are home based, and each one fills a different niche and requires different skills and passions to operate.

Knowing what the cost will be of a franchise, and not just the advertised cost but the actually day to day operating costs will help narrow the choice to businesses that are affordable and likely to succeed within the financial limits of the investor. And combining that knowledge with the knowledge of what type of service or product the franchise owner is capable to deliver can help focus the choices even more to the type of franchise opportunity that will have greater and greater chances of being a successful business.

Being able to work from home and run that small business well can provide all of the things that franchise owner’s dream of when deciding to start their own businesses. The chances of achieving that greatly increase when time and care is put into researching the franchise beforehand with the same passion and care that will eventually go into running that successful business.

Is Direct Mail Still Worth Investing On?

Posted by admin in June 8th 2008
1 Star2 Stars3 Stars4 Stars5 Stars (No Ratings Yet)
Loading ... Loading ...

Everybody these days has an email address. It’s no longer even a question of if somebody has one, but rather, how many they have. From this common truth, it can be said that most people from the young- to the mid-age bracket can be reached electronically. For people in the marketing industry, we then start thinking, with email technology so popular, one of the best ways to tap into new clients and get the word out is through email marketing, right?

Let’s step back a minute and see what come alongside email marketing: direct mail or postcard marketing campaigns. So what about direct mail and the usage of postcards for marketing? Is it simply an old-fashioned method that has, over time, acquired marketing impotence? On that note, I dare to disagree.

Email marketing may be a very budget-friendly means compared to direct mailing since you’re without the expense of the design and printing of postcards but before you jump into the hypnotic convenience and wonder of email marketing, look at the overall picture.

Email marketing campaign results in one company may be different from the campaign results in another based on a number of factors.

The results of a campaign, regardless of technology or method taken, depends on a lot of factors defined by the nature of the business and the people preparing the campaign material itself. Different target audiences will respond differently to the same campaign. Using a diverse example, if you take a bunch of freelance graphic designers and a bunch of middle-aged trading businessmen, the response of each to a printing coupons campaign has a strong likelihood of being totally different. The point I wish to illustrate is that if your campaign is directed towards the wrong audience, no matter what method you take, your campaign will most probably give you undesirable results.

The nature of your business also has an effect on the outcome of your campaign. If you own a grocery store and would like to get in touch with housewives or mothers for new arrivals, you might want to head to a local postcard printing company instead of setting up an email campaign. Housewives stay home and bask in daily chores that they might not have time to check their emails. In this case, it would be better to send postcards they can register with their own eyes and easily stick up on the fridge. Had it been done electronically, they might not have been able to get it until “they have the time” (a.k.a. “a few days after your new arrival has come and gone”). On the other end, if you’re a software development company, your target audience will most likely be online and certainly an email campaign will work better.

Another factor is how you present your campaign material. If your design and text is poorly thought of and not tailored to fit the preference of your target audience, you can be certain that you’ll get weak numbers by the end of the day.

Schedule and timing of a campaign also has an added benefit if done properly. Sending a campaign a day too late might mean a potential number of new clients gone to waste.

Now going back to my question posted as the title of this article, the answer would be all factors mentioned above. If after careful consideration of each factor, you decide that an email marketing campaign will do you more good, then fire in the hole! But don’t think that direct mail and postcard marketing is not worth investing on specially if its the one most suitable to promote your business. Don’t be carried away by the trends and the talk of the net. Go with what your business really needs then take it from there.

A Weblog Niche & Your Success !

Posted by admin in June 8th 2008
1 Star2 Stars3 Stars4 Stars5 Stars (No Ratings Yet)
Loading ... Loading ...

Choosing a great niche subject to base your website around is paramount to your blogging success. Do you want to choose a killer niche for yourself? Choose something you are passionate about. Why? Because you will put more of yourself into it. And the more you put yourself into it, the more you are creating the road to your success. so really think about the niche you want to be in. Then choose a product that compliments your niche topic (and pays a good commission). The next step is to choose your keywords.

Your niche is what you are going to be building on and you can target your specific audience with the keywords you select based on what your target audience is most likely to be searching for. Keep this in the forefront of your mind - what search term is someone going to use to get to my site or product?

The way to find the optimum keywords for your niche subject is to use a keyword software program like Google Adwords (which is a free service).

Type in the word or phrase you think someone searching for your site or product would use. Adwords will respond by generating a list of keywords or phrases that include your phrase and other words or phrases similar to what you typed in.

This information is very valuable because it shows you how many sites are out there competing for your term, and you will get a monthly figure of how many people have made that actual search. What you are looking for is the most searched for terms with the least amount of competition.

To do a quick check of how many competitors you have for a term, you can just type your term into Google. In the upper right hand area of the page you will see the number of responses for that term - yep, that’s the competition.

You will have to decide which of these would be most profitable. This is not an exact science. Opinions run rampant in all directions on how to select the most profitable avenue.

Some internet marketers like a small amount of competition, say under 50,000. Others will tell you to go ahead and take the plunge into a market with a million competitors or more because that clearly indicates the product you are offering is popular.

If you are just starting out, I would recommend that you don’t go with anything that has over 200,000 competitors. The reason being, the more competitors, the harder it is to get your site ranked on the first, second or third page of Google (so people can find your site). Research has shown that most people aren’t going to go past the third or forth page of Google to find what they are looking for. And the less competition in your area, the easier it will be for you to rank.

As you gain confidence with your success along the way, you may want to start swimming in that bigger pond.
